Harmony of Tension EP is a tender, deeply personal record, informed by his recent life experiences, be they common or singular, mundane or intimate.

Built like an aural stream of consciousness, the five-track EP attempts to gather the numerous and sometimes confusing feelings produced by today’s world. There’s something hollow and fleeing in the way Basile’s affective tonalities manage to capture those impressions. But this melancholy gains consistency thanks to its sheer inability to be a fetish.

The tracks themselves are like sketches of remote visions, one-minute-old memories that already seem estranged. The pace is light but distant, the colours both shiny and faded, the vibe industrial yet never hostile. One can hear hints of mid 2000s bedroom electropop, bittersweet MIDI-synthscapes in the style of Sakamoto, ghosts of Neptunes-and-Timbaland-style drums, but it’s not exactly a homage or a remake : more an echo of the same timeless blues for opaque times, from his own perspective and era.
